Attendance at Ridgeview School
At Ridgeview School we believe that regular attendance is essential for student wellbeing, learning, and achievement. Being at school every day helps students build strong learning foundations, maintain friendships, and make consistent progress.
Our goal is for all students to attend school at least 90% of the time, which means missing no more than five days per term where possible. When attendance concerns arise, we take a supportive and stepped approach, working alongside whānau to understand any barriers and help students return to regular attendance.
We closely monitor attendance and communicate with families if absences begin to increase. Early communication allows us to offer support, develop plans where needed, and ensure students stay connected to their learning. If attendance continues to decline, the school may work with external agencies and follow Ministry of Education guidelines.
Families play an important role by notifying the school when their child is absent, ensuring students arrive on time, and working with the school if concerns arise. Our focus is always on supporting whānau and removing barriers so every child can attend school regularly and succeed.
